In Germany the community amoung boat drivers is very huge. No matter, if it is on the Rhine or Main River, or at the North or East Sea, they meet everywhere. So they do in Aschaffenburg which is also known as the Bavarian Nice at the Main River. Even the Bavarian King Ludwig I loved that city located in Unterfranken for its mild climate which is not only famous for its historical buildings, but also for its beautiful promenade along the Main River where several boat clubs settled over decades.
Although there are a lot of like-minded people especially regarding offshore boating in Aschaffenburg, most of them prefered to stick with their own club. But in 2001 everything started to change when Team Scarab decided to unite those offshore boat drivers. Thus, step by step a new clique was born which has met on sunny weekends at the Obernauer lock in order to chill-out, to party or to talk shop.
Another year passed until two of that new clique - Team Scarab and Team Checkmate - searched the internet during the boring winter pause. And they came up with the idea to organize a Poker Run in Germany, since both of them were interested to search for new members from other harbors to join the community and to set up a network between all of them. The weekend of Pentecost was stated to be the perfect time, the Rhine River chosen for the run and the announcement on the Boote-Forum internet site followed shortly after

In June 2003 twelve boats were at the start in the harbor of Neuwied. The enthusiam was outrageous so that all of them decided to repeat such an event the following year in which the same route was picked, the Pentecost weekend selected again and the participants even tripled. Thus, 30 boats from Germany and Switzerland put on an exciting adventure - size XXL - on May 29, 2004.
But what would be a Poker Run without an appropiate internet site in order to advertise and further to exchange information about boats or publish reports. Therefore the members of the board decided to create their own homepage: Offshoreonly was born. The site increases daily. It is very popular among the friends of watersports for whom even more events of that kind will be organized in the future. And to make sure that those events will always be such a special occasion for everybody - today and tomorrow -, the members of the clique work now as a team on that new project.
