Scarab 29 ft Prop slip issue.

Beitrag von jens henrik vinther »

Hi Guys. :D

I hope you can help me.

I have much to much slip in my props. Last season i ran with 26 inch Mirage, but i couldn't get any speed out of it. 61 mph with 5000 rpm. This season i then tried a Revolution 4 25 inch, but with almost the same result 62 mph with 5000 rpm.
it feels like it sucks air down to the prop and just makes white foam behind the boat..

Have anyone of you had the same problem as i?

What do you guys think the problem is?

The , drive is in mint condition it is a Bravo X 1,5 with a imco nosecone.

Thanks!!

Regards. Jens henrik. (Denmark)

I am not shure, but its nearly 100 KmH with a single engine in an 29 feet boat!
Handbuild engine with 600 HP,but are the HP tested or only a belive HP???

Did anyone here know how much an 29 feet can go with this performance?
I think it is not tooo bad speed!?

Thanks.. Good reading..
I can definitely see what you mean, but nothing has been altered to my X-dimension. With my old HP 500 the boat had a topspeed of 72 mph.
The only thing that has been modified is the nosecone and the water inlet that before was in the lower leg has now been moved to under the boat.

Regards Jens henrik..

What about the engine? Power is tested or why you know 600 HP?
I have learned that nosecone only helps if you run 80+ mls!
So only 2 options why so slow now!
Engine has not the power or the nosecone makes you a problem!

Michael, the new engine came with a dynochart which said 597 hp. The company i bought the engine of is a very thrusted company, and i dont believe that they are lying to me about the dynochart..
When i read on other forums, boats similar to mine are having a top speed of 70-75 mph, so therefore 60 is way to slow. The guy i bought the boat from told me that it would go 72 mph at any time..

Hello, i good person to ask are Smokin`Joe

http://www.offshoreonly.de/phpbb/viewto ... 6&start=50
This link are old, but Smokin`Joe always have the Scarab. He have tested many with the same setup you have too.

My 28" need many bowlift and with the twin engines many hecklift too. Hecklift from the Bravo One Props and Bowlift from many trim. But many trim and NoseCone are not good partners. If you trim the nose from the nose cone goes down and the heck goes down to. With nose cone you better don`t trim to much.

Changing the Bravo drive with a frend are a good and easy start to find the Problem.

26" @ 5000 with 1:1.50 are 21% Slip many slip.

Where are the Waterpickup now lokatet ??
Mit freundlichem Gruß Michael F

I would change the trim tabs too like on the pic. Your tabs and the position of your tabs slows the boat down if you activate them. If you mount them like on the pic you stabilize the boat.
