Fountain Powerboat Industries announced today that it had completed the acquisition of Baja Marine Corp. It said in a statement that the new subsidiary will be called Baja By Fountain, Inc, and that it will start manufacturing boats for the 2009 model year.
"This action unites two of the leading brands within the powerboat segment," said CEO Reggie Fountain, Jr in the statement. "We are excited to deepen our long-standing relationship with Mercury Marine, which will continue to provide marine engines and certain other power components for Baja boats manufactured by Fountain through a long-term agreement."

Fountain hat Baja Marine Corp. gekaut. Ihr habt jetzt also eine Fountain... eigentlich ja ne Aufwertung.
If you're in control, you're going too slow.

Reggie Fountain and State Representative Arthur Williams inspect the first two 26 Outlaws at the end of the Fountain assembly line Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Fountain, gave accolades to the Brunswick Corporation for their assistance in the transition of Baja and also said that Representative Williams and Tom Thompson of the Washington Committee of 100 were instrumental in bringing the Baja line to Eastern North Carolina.
On July 21, 2008 Fountain announced that it would be adding an additional 250 jobs over the next five years in addition to investing $12 Million to expand its facility. Reggie Fountain said “these new Baja by Fountain boats would have the same laminates, vinylester resins, high density foam core materials and Latham hydraulic steering systems that he uses on his high performance pleasure and racing boats”.
Mr. Fountain was also very pleased with the performance and handling of the 26 footer powered by the Mercruiser 496 HO. He said “the 26 was showing 71 MPH on the speedometer with a half a tank of fuel and that he would be able to price the boat affordably with a slight up tick for the enhancements”.
Fountains plan is to continue to roll the Baja product into the Fountain production process and get the boats into the customers hands as soon as possible
